Privacy Policy

The short version

• No account, no sign-in, no ads, no tracking.
• Your practice history and settings stay on your device.
• The app schedules reminders on the device, with no server.
• Purchases go through Apple. Our service provider RevenueCat checks them using a random identifier, without your name or email address.

The app

What is stored on your device

Deez Knots stores which knots you practiced when and how you rated them, the practice dates computed from that, and your settings (style, rope colours, reminder time) in the app’s storage on your device. None of it is sent to us; we have no server that could receive it. Deleting the app deletes all of it.

Reminders

If you allow reminders, the app schedules them as local notifications on the device. There are no push messages from a server, and no device token is sent anywhere for them.

Purchases

Premium is bought through Apple’s In-App Purchase. Apple handles the payment; we receive no payment details. To check purchases and unlock Premium, the app uses RevenueCat (RevenueCat, Inc., 1032 E Brandon Blvd #3003, Brandon, FL 33511, USA). For this the app sends a random identifier created at first launch, Apple’s purchase receipts, device type, operating system, app version and language setting, and, as a technical necessity, your IP address. RevenueCat receives no name, email address or Apple Account from us. RevenueCat processes the data on our behalf under a data processing agreement, on servers in the USA. Transfers there are covered by the European Commission’s standard contractual clauses. The legal basis is the performance of the contract (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR).

Crash reports

If you allowed sharing analytics with app developers in your iPhone’s settings, Apple provides us with anonymous crash reports. You control this under Settings > Privacy & Security > Analytics & Improvements.

Backups by Apple

If you use iCloud Backup or a computer backup, iOS includes the app’s data. That is a service of Apple, covered by Apple’s privacy policy.

This website

The website runs on a server of Hetzner Online GmbH, Industriestr. 25, 91710 Gunzenhausen, Germany, under a data processing agreement. To send you the pages, the server processes your IP address and the details your browser sends with each request (time, page, browser). These are written to a technical log that serves only operation and security, is not analysed, and is deleted after 14 days at most. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in a working website (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). The site sets no cookies, uses no analytics and loads no fonts or scripts from other servers.

Email

If you write to us, we use your email address and message only to reply, and delete them once the conversation is over unless the law requires us to keep them. Emails are stored with Hetzner Online GmbH (address above), also under a data processing agreement. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR where it concerns the app, otherwise our legitimate interest in answering questions (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).

Your rights

You have the right of access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability and objection (Art. 15 to 21 GDPR). What the app stores on your device is already with you. For data held by RevenueCat, write to us and we will help. You can also complain to a data protection authority, for example the State Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information of Baden-Württemberg.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will be here with a new date. If a future version of the app collects more data, it will say so here before that version is released.
